Occupational Health and Safety Students in Canada Invited to Apply for Scholarship

Today, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) announced they are now accepting applications for the 2019 Dick Martin Scholarship Award. This annual, national scholarship is offered to students enrolled in an occupational health and safety course or program in an accredited Canadian college or university, leading to a certificate, diploma or degree.

CCOHS will award two scholarships worth $3,000 each to one university student and one college student pursuing their education in a field related to occupational health and safety. A $500 award will also be provided to each of the winning students’ academic institutions.

To apply for the scholarship, post-secondary students are invited to submit a 1,200-word essay on one of two topics related to occupational health and safety: a prevention essay on workplace violence, or a technical essay on an existing or emerging hazard or risk of their choice.

Applications are open until 11:59 p.m. EST, January 31, 2019, and the winners will be announced during North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week in May 2019.
